This is a very popular sweet treat in India and featured in Jason Derulo’s latest track, “Jalebi Baby”. It is a fried dough dipped in flavored syrup to give a crystallized exterior. We are using very traditional flavors of rose water and saffron. The saffron and turmeric help give the Jalebi their signature yellow color while imparting a subtle and delicious aromatic flavor. Celebrate Holi this year by making this South Asian favorite!

What’s in your kit?

All Purpose Flour, Cornmeal, Baking Soda, Vinegar, Yogurt, Turmeric, Lemon Juice, Saffron, Rose Water, Ghee, Vegetable Oil for frying, and a Squeeze Bottle.

Serving size: About 30 Jalebi

Cook time: 60 min

Difficulty level: Intermediate

Bāke within: 1 Week

Tools needed: 1 ¾ cup water, may need up to 1 cup extra to get the batter to the correct consistency. Large mixing bowl, medium mixing bowl, whisk, spatula, 2 medium saucepans, fork, plate, paper towel, and a baking sheet.

Protip: Use a frying / candy thermometer to keep your oil at the perfect frying temperature of 350℉.
