BāKIT Box Featured in Chicago Now

Just in time for Thanksgiving, BāKIT Box comes to the rescue
BāKIT Box is so honored to be featured on the Chicago Now blog, A Bite of Chicago! Read “How a Chicago startup founded by two minority women saved my Thanksgiving” here. The author, Carole Kuhrt Brewer, was tasked with the job of bringing dessert to her Thanksgiving celebration. The stakes were high — when it comes to holidays, the dessert is just as important as the dinner.
To Carole’s dismay, local bakeries had already closed their Thanksgiving orders, and the pies at the grocery store were not up to par for her and her family. Plus, the shelves in the baking aisle of grocery stores the week of Thanksgiving tend to be grim — a can of pumpkin is hard to come by when everyone wants to make pumpkin pie.
Thankfully, Carole had placed an order for a pumpkin pie kit from BāKIT Box, which arrived in time for Thanksgiving. The kit contained pumpkin (a valuable commodity around Thanksgiving!), maple syrup, evaporated milk, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, and a pie crust. Even folks who don’t consider themselves bakers can enjoy a BāKIT Box. Don’t have nutmeg or cloves in your pantry? Rather than buying two whole spice containers of each that you’ll use once a year, consider ordering a BāKIT Box. You’ll get the correct amount of the ingredients the recipe calls for, and won’t need to worry about wasting anything.
Armed with all the ingredients (sans eggs and salt) included and premeasured, Carole was able to bake a delicious, homemade pumpkin pie for her family. We’re so glad that we were able to be a part of this year’s Thanksgiving dinner, and hopefully many more to come.
